iFLUX® Sampler – Groundwater & Contaminant Mass Flux Characterization
iFLUX® Sampler – Groundwater & Contaminant Mass Flux Characterization
Description
iFLUX® Samplers directly measure groundwater flow and contaminant mass flux at discrete depths, providing time-averaged data that improves conceptual site models, identifies preferential flow paths, and supports more targeted, cost-effective remediation design and performance monitoring.
When to Use the iFLUX® Sampler
The iFLUX Sampler is particularly well-suited for projects where understanding contaminant transport mechanisms—not just concentrations—is critical to managing risk and optimizing remediation.
Ideal applications include:
-
Sites requiring improved understanding of groundwater and contaminant mass flux through saturated porous media
-
Heterogeneous aquifers where identifying preferential flow paths is essential
-
Sites with complex or dynamic groundwater conditions, including pumping influences, recharge variability, or tidal effects
-
Projects where remediation footprint, injection volumes, or amendment placement significantly affect cost and performance
-
Performance monitoring to evaluate the effectiveness of remedial actions over time
Less suitable applications include:
-
Bedrock aquifers dominated by fracture flow
-
Sites where simple excavation or conventional remedies fully address project objectives
-
Transects dominated by pure-phase (NAPL) conditions, where concentration gradients—not groundwater flow—control transport
